Default Removing signal module for security system install

Has anyone installed the Harley factory Security module? My wife's Nightster did not come with one, and I am installing it. I'm trying to get it out without taking the rear wheel off. Does it just snap in there? I can't seem to pull it with pliers. I'm about ready to pull the rear tire, it's hard to get a good grip on it.

I did mine on my 06 1200 L. If Nightster is same, you have to remove battery, not rear tire. Module will pull up through opening left where the battery was. However, I installed mine and could not get it to work. Alarm worked and could disarm it, but ignition was disabled all the time. Had to take to dealer so they could, supposedly, calibrate it (they told me they had to hook it up to diagnostics after install). Don't no if this is true or not, but installing the module was easy. Maybe someone has an answer for the disabled ignition problem I had.

Thanks, I just found that out. I did take the rear wheel off though, which made some otherthings easier to do. Seems it runs for a few seconds and shuts off. I haven't heard anything from the siren yet. I installed 2 things at once, the Security system it's self, and the siren kit. When I bought it, the dealer did say they have to do something for it to work, but knowing how much they try to pull me in the shop all the time, I really didn't believe them. If anyone knows exactly what's involved in what the dealer does, let me know. If I gotta buy some kinda diagnostic thingy do, I will. Maybe if I do, I wonder if it would also work on my Nightrain.

Those things are useless. It's too easy to just pick the bike up and throw it in the back of a pickup. If I hear my alarm or pager, it may scare someone away or I can come out shooting. My brother had a bike chained up like Peewee Herman's bicycle to a concrete lamp post, and it was gone in the morning. I'd rather be first line defense than a silly lock.

I moved my bike the other day with out the FOB and the siren went off, I thought it would never stop.

Yea, my FOB is on me all the time, just in case. It's anoying at times, sometimes it goes off for a sec or 2 when I first get on it, even with my FOB.

I did finally figure it all out and got it working. Found out what I needed to search for from the XL list. It take about half hour to do a sequence of on/off, turn signal, standing onyour head and doing the hokie pokie, but it work'n like a charm now. I see in my Nightrain manual (don't have one for the Nightster yet) that any time the ECM or TSM is replaced, that the ritual dance must be done. Also it's all expained in the Diagnostic manual, which I don't have. But did google it and found it here. But now I find out I got the wrong siren, the wifey wants the pager also, so I need to sell the siren. Anyone wanna buy it? This is the one I have that is for sell, if I don't hear from anyone, it'll be up on ebay as soon as I get the pager siren one.

Hey all, I got the bike to start with the programming procedure above, and the bike runs as normal. But... The security system is not doing anything, I can start it with or without the FOB, and the red speedo key light doesn't blink like the system on my FXSTB. So I am guessing I have yet another step to do? Anyone know? Thanks.
