Default Battery Tender

Well I picked up a battery tender and harnessthis past weekend and today went out to get it set up. Well what a surprise after taking off the side cover... my bike was already rigged with a harness . I know it's not all that big of a deal, especially when the dealers want you to buy everything from them. But still I was surprised that my bike already had one connected. Oh well guess I'll just hang on to this one for the next bike.

Same here.

Bought one for mine last spring. Harness came separately from tender.

Brought the stuff home, and found that the bike already had the harness. Brought back harness fo refund.

Mine had one as well. I bought the black and decker 12v 'float' charger from Wal Mart. It does theexact same thing as the Harley unit but only costs $15. Uses the same connecter as wellbut comes with a harness and battery clip attachments.

I just use the Harbor Freight tenders. Get them when they go on sale. They come with big clips and I just hook the + up at the starter and the - wherever I feel like it.

I did put a trailer light connector on the Esprit and the other end on another HF tender. That one is a battery killin' machine.

My bike came with the pigtail connected and I got one with my Battery Tender also. I cut off the battery-connection end and hooked on a cigarette lighter receptacle, snaked it under the seat and tank,so now I can charge my cell phone on long trips. I could also power a portable CD player or aniPod if I liked music while riding, which I don't.

The dealer installed harness is a nice option, they should all do this.

I've never used a battery tender or pigtail on my scoot in the seven years I've owned it. Still on the original battery.

I'm guessing the dealers put these on to make charging easier for them, not the customer.

Around here most of the dealers install them on new bikes, but apparently that doesn't happen everywhere.

But good grief, how difficult would it be for the dealers to install these on a new bike when setting them up, and the dealer cost wouldn't be that much.

MSRP is what, $9.00 or so? I'm sure dealer cost when purchased in 'bulk' couldn't be more than a couple dollars. You would think the dealers could afford to 'eat' this dollar or two cost per bike and install them on all new bikes.

Anything to save a penny I guess. [8D]
