Just took the bike out to ride to get a haircut and visit the local dealer for the "huge" 15% off sale.
It was around 43F but that Zan neoprene face mask I bought yesterday kept my face nice and warm which is usually the only part of me to get real cold.
Don't worry it is also reversible and black on the other side so I don't always have to look like a jackass, only whenI want to.
I also picked up some glove liners to go inside my leather gloves to help keep my fingers a little warmer.
I wear thermal underwear under my clothes and it does a pretty damn good job so I think I can go to about 32 degrees without a windshield for short rides before I have to leave it in the garage and take the unfun car.
Looks like for the most part everybody stops riding when the temps get 30 or below with a few exceptions. Hopefully I'll get a few nice days between now and March. Nice meaning temps around 30 or abovefor central Wisconsin, and the fact the roads are ok with no snow orsalt.
With the right gear..there really isnt much of a limit..esp with heated grips and heated garments!!!
Full face helmets help alot too..but oddly some epople would rather not ride or freeze than be caught dead with a full face helmet.....I dont get it..lol
Coldest I've been riding in started at 21 degrees, ended at 19. Bundled up, didn't really go anywhere; I just wanted to say, "been there done that".
Just got back from a 450 mile two way road trip to mom's for Thanksgiving...50 degrees and 25-30 mph crosswinds going....same coming back, except for the rain I came into between Canton and Terrell, TX. Someone said we had snow flurries with it, but I didn't notice any. The roads weren't cold enough anyway. Yes, I slowed down to the posted speed limit of 65!
Rode to work today. 41 degrees with light rain going to work, and 39 degrees with 15 mph wind and light rain coming back. Cold is not a problem. light rain, foggy visor, night time, and slick roads is much more of an issue with me. Gently slid the rear tire slightly coming out of a left turn on the way home. Not a major deal, but it did let me know just how slick the roads were. I think I'll wait till it stops raining before I ride again, though. I also need a clear Fog City visor insert. Lemon Pledge worked great for helping the water bead off the visor, but it still fogged up on the inside. I had to leave it cracked open to clear it up.
I ride in the cold cause if I gotta make my payments and insurance this freakin bike aint sittin all winter. Besides it aint hard to dress for cold weather ridin.
