My 2007 1200L came with lace wheels. I really prefer the look of cast wheels. Has anyone changed their lace wheels for cast? If so, are there other parts that need to be changed besides the wheel itself? Will the existing tire work without the tube? Do dealers have so-called "take offs" available?
just wanted to throw in my 2cents!!! as they have already said it's not that big a deal..
best place to find a set will be on ebay!! just be patient, you can't beat what you'll find their..
just put a 21"lightning star mag on the front of my 06.. brand new still in HD box for 150.00 plus shipping!! a lot better than the 650.00 from dealer.. i just had to swap out the bearings and spacer.. bearings from ebay also.. and spacer from J&P cycles...
So i say definetely go for it!!!!!!!!!!!! the seller i bought from user id is slatersendac
if you have any questions drop me an email and i'll try and help.
good luck!!!!!
I did the front on my bike but went with a 19" instead of the 21". very simple and the the spacers were the same. the only problem I had was I had to pull off the fenderbecause with the fatter tire on the 19"wouldn't clear the fender bolts. after the wheel was installed I was able to put the fender back on.
what charley said and HD9358said is exactly right the wheel are interchangeable but depending on year your getting.you may have to swap the bearing out. and e-bay is where I bought my wheel, brand new in the box with the bearing for less than half on what the dealer wanted. just have to be patient.
