Harley Security System...
Makes no sense at all. Why can't you connect your horn to go off when the lights flash? Why do you need to buy another horn? That's flat out stupid!!
My horn only works when the key is on. That would be the first obsticle.
Depending on how the output to the add-on horn is triggered, you might could use a relay and add an additional power lead trhough the switched side of the relay to the factory horn. That assumes that the system trigger is a switch to ground or a switch to voltage. If the siren driver is built into the system then you could only hook a siren to it as the trigger would not pull a relay.
The Turn signal/security module has a trigger going to the optional siren. The siren also has a 12V lead that is not switched with the ignition and a ground that is not switched.
Most likley that signal wire (trigger) is not going to be straight voltage, but I'm going to see if I can find out on my bike.
THe other idea that I'm getting here is to use the turn signals voltage to pull a relay tied to the horn. I will have to figure out a way to wire the relay so that it is bypassed when the ignition os on so the horn don't blow everytime you signal for a turn.
Actually, I just tested the signal wire from the connector for the siren...
It has 12 Volts when secure and goes to ground when in alarm. This is good news...
You could wire a 12v power lead into the common terminal of a realy, then tap the factory horn wire and connect it to the normally open side of the relay. Connect the trigger wire (green w/brown stripe) to the coil side of the relay and put 12VDC the other side of the coil. When the system is secured, nothing happens. When it goes into alarm the relay switches and the horn blows. The downside is that the horn would blow constantly, not a beep, beep, beep deal. You could however make it do multiple beeps if you wanted to wire in a flasher module from the autoparts store...
So, if you really felt like it, you could make the horn blow with the alarm for the cost of a relay and a flasher module (total... 'bout $15).
