$12.00 tractor lights and two $3.00Ford exhaust studs. The exhaust studs are 3/8 in on one end and 5/16 on the other and will replace the clamping bold on the lower triple tree. You will have to trim a little off each end of the stud but no big deal. I just Parkerized the stud afterwards to rust proof. With running light installation kit, lights and hardware less than $50.00 in the whole deal.

Nice job!! Original and inexpensive, and it looks good--better I think than the Harley lights.

I wish it had been my idea[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

How did you wire it in?

You ought to repost on www.xlforum.net. They would love it!

I like rotowing70 the best, I went with a headlight modulator just for the sake of being noticed during the day.

I like those PIAA options. But with the tiny amps from the stock alternator -- I really do not like adding anything else. I need to make sure I have enough juice to run my heated clothes.

Does anyone know what it costs to upgrade our alternators to put out more juice?

I believe onecan NEVERhave enough lights; we seem to be invisible to cagers.

How many lights can I add before the alternator says 'nuff already?

Hmmmm...

Hmmmmm....

The PIAA lights that 3power posted. This morning in Wal-Mart I saw some that looked almost identical to these. They were in the automobile section. I do know that they had halogen lamps, they were all crome and a lot, lot cheaper. I do not know how many amps they used. Just thought I would mention this.

According to KC_Sporty_Girl on another forum, having the stator changed out to the 32 Amp (2007) version cost about $100.00. She didn't say, but that is probably parts only.

As I said, I like the PIAA's. A little pricey, but bright, limited power draw, and I think the profile fits the bike better than the larger lights.
