things are really getting tough guys i was at destination daytona saturday .they had a brand new 08 black nightster for sale for 7995.00 all of these cheap prices i keep seeing has to bring the value down on our bikes we already own .i bought my 07 nightster for 9995.00 thought i got a good deal i guess not .the salesman i talked to said they had to drop the prices earlyer than normal because they had so many 08,s there trying to get rid of the bikes on hand to make room for 09 models when they come out.i think it,s true because rosmier doesn,t normaly discount bikes i guess things are really tough .looks like a good time to buy not sell!!!!!!!!!!!
That's strange... I live in Idaho (not exactly metropolis) and work at a dealership in Boise. We are still selling Nightsters like crazy (even in winter)... Of course, our dealer is ranked 11th in sales in the nation (2nd in the entire western region). A new Nightster for $7995.... That literally sounds insane. Are their freight and set-up charges $1000 a piece?... Lots of dealers are running that scam... Making their profit in dealer costs... shady.

I'm pretty shocked by that pricing, Destination is usually the last place you're gonna find great deals. Usually all we hear about is how much over MSRP Bruce is selling for.

Well, things can't be that bad. 3 new HD dealerships opened in the San Antonio area in the last 5 years. I can't see somebody spending that kind of money if they weren't expecting significant profit. Plus the manufacturer has to do market testing to approve a dealership, meaning they thought there wasgoing to be some money in it too.Not to mention that just aboutany used Harley (see Cycle Trader)is being sold for nearly it's new price. They wouldn't price them like that if they didn't think they were going to sell for those prices. It's possible your local economy is more responsible for what you are seeing than Harley sales in general.

Not sure about other areas of the country but, in VA...if price is your concern (and who's isn't right...?), used is the way to go. I bought my '06 1200C (in November) with about $2,500 worth of mods/accessories (4,000 mis) for $7,500. Even at that, I feel I paid $500 too much compared to other deals out there. Original owner paid $9,500 plus mods/access. $4,000 loss in 16 months...? New is not worth it...
Buddy of minejust bought an '06 1200L with 1,100 miles ($500 of upgrades) for $6,595...Bike is showroom condition. Blue Book retail is over $8,200 with no upgrades...
With bike shipping readily available and pretty common these days, doubtful this is a "regional issue"...H-D has definitely flooded the market
