I have a H-D Sport windshield...detatchable..it is on all the time but comes off easily for cleaning..I love it. Got it half price at the dealer..it is a 2003 Anniversary model and all that stuff was half price so I snatched it up...and I have a '95...I don't care if it is an Anniversary edition...it keeps the wind off of me and that is all that matters!!
I bought a non-detachable slipstreamer windshield from motorcycle accessory warehouse, an online company, cost me around 140 dollars brand new. It comes with all the mounting hardware included, and can be removed in as little as 10 minutes if you ever decide you want it off. It has good chrome hardware, nuts and bolts, and all that. I leave it on all the time, and the angle of it is super easy to adjust, provides excellent wind deflection.
I had a HD quick detach windshield on my 05 883c. It seemed a little too quick to detach (easily stolen), so I used a cheap little chain to lock it to the handlebar.
On my 07 883L I am using a Memphis Shades El Paso.I thought it looks a little better because of the size and color tint to match my bike. It is also easy to detach but takes a hex wrench instead of just flipping a couple of snaps.
Get a Memphis Shades windshield they fit pefect and they are about 30% thicker than Harley's windshield which cuts down on vibration. They alsohave muchless distortion and being that they are 30% thick they will takes a hell of a wack to break them.
Also make sure you measure correctly so your wife can see over it when going down the road a lot of people buy there windshields to tall.
