the biggest, tallest one with as much chrome, flames, and unnessacary ornaments and leather as possible.

just kidding

a short chrome one with a simple pad can be found for cheap and will look good. You can add studs to it yourself to match the seat, that will look cool

Agreed. Take him/her/them to the dealer and ask him/her/them to test-sit a few different styles, then buy it while you're there. Reward the dealer for allowing you to ***-plant a few bikes and to thank them for keeping stock on hand for just such things.

Nothing looks funnier to me than someone trying to turn a motorcycle seat into a Lazy-Boy for the passenger with some big a$$ed back rest. I have the smallest rail and back pad made (Harley Mini). It's not intended to put any passengers to sleep. It's intended to give them a secure feeling that they're not going to slide off the back of the bike (like a door stop). And, on top of that, they look the best. IMHO

I have the HD medium short rail, which is taller than a mini rail but shorter than a short rail, and the medium rail is taller than any of those. Have I confused you enough? I don't ride two up, but I tend to attach lots of crap to mine. The medium short rail is about perfect...until I put my tall-ass85 liter internal frame backpack on it.Only then I start wishing it wasthe short rail, which is taller, remember?[sm=huh.gif] I hope the forum members forgive me, but I just put awrinkle black luggage rack on mine.I was going to get one anyway, but the accelerated time was due to carrying a large pizza on the back during Super Bowl Sunday! Some packages work better with a sissy bar andrack. I also prefer to put my helmet on the back of the sissy bar while off the bike (when I'm wearing a helmet, that is).

The point I'm trying to make is: What are you going to DO with a sissy bar? If it's just tokeep your riding partner (or any prospective one) fromsliding off the back under acceleration, then a mini rail will do. If it's to attach stuff to the back like I do sometimes, then a medium short or short rail will work,as well as provide more comfort for any prospectivepassenger. If you just like sissy bars and want it to look good then get one like JosephGarcia suggested...of course without a backrest pad.

I'm partial to the shorter ones...the shortest one which will do what you want it to do. It doesn't have to be one from the stealer either.
