Finally after months of looking at the bike in the garage I was able to getout for a 45 minute ridetoday. Temp was 29 degrees and the roads were good enough to ride here in Wisconsin. Still a little salt residue, and lots of snow to melt, but getting the bike on the road felt good.
In the low 40's in Milwaukee right now, still too much road salt and way too many potholes on the city streets. Temps are suppose to be around 40 for the rest of the week with some rain. Hopefully will melt all this snow and wash the streets. I never thought I'd be glad to see it rain.
Yep...Were all pretty much in the same boat in the North. Good riding hereisearly to midApril through the end of October. The roads need a good rain, and the potholes need to be filled, but I wanted to ride so I hit the road.
We had 3 or more inches of rain over the past week, and the roads are full of potholes but I got out a little bit each of the past two days.I had to bring the wife home at lunch Monday, took the bike back to work. Came home again today at lunch to grab the bike again. Itranged between 28-48 degrees but I didn't care. Used the weenie shield and full face and put on 65-75 miles. Still some salt residue on the roads but the rain took care of most of it. I just tried to avoid any water runoff and rinsed the bike off a bit before I put if back in the shed. We're getting some sh&*^y weather over the next several days so Itried to takeadvantage of the decent weather.
I bought my first Harley, a 2007 XL 1200 C, December 18 and expected to store it all winter (in the neighbor's garage). But here in Virginia we sometimes have a mild winter with little snow and that is what we had this year. I got to ride almost every week and did so whenever the temperature was 40 degrees and the roads were dry. I feel for you guys in the North, but then you have cooler summers than we have.My metrics were put away for the winter last October and I was really feeling cagey when I saw this red Harley in December. The sweet wife said "buy it", and "Merry Christmas." Hooray! The Harley got to run a lot in the next months and it quickly became my favorite. It is a great bike and I am learning a lot from the wisdom imparted in this forum. Keep up the good work you guys.
Congrats on your first Harley. Mine was delivered Monday and I rode all afternoon...temps in mid 50's. Yeah, it's been a really mild winter for us here in No. Va. Work calls, however, so I won't be able to get out again till this weekend...weather permitting.
