Properly tuned....
I ran it down to a guy just south of Milwaukee who was recommended highly by one of the guys at House of Harley sincehe feltthe guywould do a way better job than any of their techs at the stealer for less $$ (I guess not all guys at the stealers have the stealer mentality).
Anyhow I took the bike to a guy by the name of Steve Mueller. On his business card it says "Steve Mueller's Method" Hot Rod Harleys and High Performance.
As it turns out there was a factory defect in the casting of my intake manifold allowing a vacuum leak. He was able to seal and repair that leak on the manifold. He made a few adjustmentsto the carb and got everyting set perfect.
Let me just say that the stock 1200 engine with the Samsons Forcewinder and Yost kitis a real barnburner now!! I rode it pretty close to 50 Miles today in 36-40 degree weather (depending on how close to the lake I was at). I didn't get so much as a pop, stumble, or anything that resembled a sportster carb fart. The throttle response is AWESOME! A 40 mph Roll on the throttle in 4th gear will get you to 90 in no time flat!
Anyone in the milwaukee or surrounding areas wants their carburated Sportster to run like a violated Gorilla (raped ape
) give Steve Mueller a call at 414 570 2073. He is located at 8005 south 13th street in Oak Creek WI. That is just South ofDrexell.
Also. I have switched back to the HD champions for now. All said and done you may have a vacuum leak somewhere. Get out the carb spray!
My set up:
-45 Pilot
-185 Main
-Yost emulsion tube
-Blue needle
-Slide drilled to accept the new needle as well as vacuum port drilled to 1/8"
-Yost Spring
Our Elevation is700 feet above sea level. Keep in mind though that I am running a very free flowing A/C and pipes.
