A week of evenings working and it is finally finished. 2006 Sportster 1200 Custom, 12 inch mini-apes, and 10 inch homemade struts. Got to ride 2 hours this morning and the hardtail wasn't quite as bad as I expected it to be.
I dont understand it for ergonomics or looks... It looks better with the shocks to me. Your
passenger is gonna be really sorry
Ride safe and miss the potholes best you can.
Why? Don't know, I like the look, I like doing things that don't follow the mainstream, I like putting my one personal touches on my bike. Plus, for the long rides, I can always revert back to the shocks in about 10 minutes.
I would rather go to 9 inch struts, but I am too lazy after a week of working on it, it will be a few weeks before I do another shorter set.
I'm still waiting to do a rigid....not usin the sporty though .
Looks good! One of the few with struts that I've actually liked.
I'm stickin with shocks for now, hookin up some Progressive 11" 812's with full covers and 1.5" lowering blocks to bring the frame down a great deal. It will sit about the same height as it would with 9.5" struts, but I'll still have a decent ride and my fender will still be able to move with the swingarm.
