So my wife was pricing at the dealership to get me V&H black shortshots, stage1 a/c, and the fuel download for my b-day. They said about a thousand bucks for parts and labor. Does that sound about right to you all? Its an '08 Nightster.
I just put the V&H short shots on mine, spent $250 for the pipes, and the labor was free. I decided not to charge myself, and it only costs a couple bucks for jets. That is one reason I love the carb bikes. My friend bought a Wide Glide and had V&H big radius pipes installed and it was a little over $1,000. Factor in the pipes, power commander, labor, and you are there especially when shop rates are around $80.00 per hour.
my dealership quoted something like that to me when i was doing similar. Differences being that I have a carb, and they said "about a thousand depending on the pipes you choose". I ended up going to a very reputable indie in my area. and they did it all for $450. $250 for the vance and hines straight shot slip ons, 140 for the ac, 5 bucks for the 48 jet, and 1 hour of labor. They had it tuned so nicely that I've had all my work done by them ever since. Including the first 1000 mile service. They are way cheaper than the dealer, they do awesome work and funny enough, they used to be service managers at this particular dealership.
I know that the remaps cost more than rejetting a carb, but your price still seems high.
