buckhorn handlebars

I have a 2003 hugger with buckhorn style handlebars. I am wanting to change to a different bar but do not want to change the cables. I was told the custom bars would fit. I recently purchased a set of sportster (I think) stock handlebars. I put them on and even though they were a few inches wider the brake line was wanting to bind. Any ideas on handlebars that would fit with out replacing cabels?

You might try some type of mini-apes, only idea I have.

You might try some XLH standard bars like mine. They have a slight bend in them raising them up a little more than drag bars but not up as high as buckhorns.....You can see them in my HDF photo gallery. Just a thought.
