I have the SE stage 1 air cleaner and am really happy with my performance.
Arethere any good compatable replacements for just the cover?
I am just looking for looks at this point. I dont want to screw with the mixture.
I used the round HD cover on my '01; single screw fitting, may need a gasket to space it from the filter; it's also HD. (Without the gasket the socket head screw recess flattens against the air cleaner)
Iam slightly skeptical bout this product....It's a no brainer the rain can easily get into the filter element here..................the HAM CAN,
....even though it may restrict some air (the hamcan)......it covers the entire air cleaner from rain, even with the SE kit w/ the rubber spacer they provide.....I have not noticed any signif difference w/ or w/out the ham can........being an "OLD SCHOOL" guy cuz of my age, that ham can of the 70's really says sportster to me (as well as the tapered pipes, which have a sound of their own)the new ham cam is kinda funky in its own way.......PONDER this: if sporties came stockwith a round cleaner , we'd prob be buying aftermarket "RETRO look ham cans" of the 70's, bolting them on,and having a FORUM or two on that......drives a bolt-on -guy nuts (no pun).....SO....it is a cover for on the filter for me.....BINNY
there is no water that gets in mine if you keep it clean and oiled.....also comes with a sock, that i bet you can fid one for the filter you are running
Well, I also was looking for an alternative to the Ham can also, but preferably not something that looked like, or was as big as the Ham Can. I mean, reallly, it is nice enough looking chrome and all, but for gods sake, it is as big and wide as a, well, a ham can. How about something thinner, or flatter, and maybe smaller in girth?
