No kidding??!!! I have used Standard, Amoco and BP gas for as long as I've been driving a car/bike. I worked at a Standard station in High School. So, what's next in line for choices? No Mobile stations/Marathon stations. We do have Shell though. Just wondering about everybody else.................??

I have this arguement with my wife on a regular basis. There is an exit on the slab just down from us where the travel plazas have price wars on the gas cost. Cars line up 3 and 4 deep at the station that is 2 cents per gallon cheaper. The other usually has 1 car at the 16 pump island. She wants to go wait in the line to save 2 cents. I always point out that in her 17 gallon tank (cage) that works out to about 34 cents... My time is worth more than that.
See that happen all the time. I would rather pay 20 cents more a gallon than to wait in line for 10 minutes. Also....If there is a BP station that is 40 cents less than the station right next to it , I would still definately go to the higher priced one. My bike and cage hate BP gas. Odd. Have had car dealerships tell me BP has caused many a customer problem as well. Anyone else have a problem with them? Curious.

I cant remember where , but i read somewhere that on a 1 hose pump , if the person before you pumped regular , then you went to pump premium , you would get at least one gallon of reg before premium starts pumping , on a peanut tank that is too much regular for me so i try to find a station that has a hose for every grade.

Could be completely untrue for all I know.Just what I've heard at dealers.I just know my motors don't like the bp/amoco stuff. I live off of shell as much as possible now.

If some of you guys like throwing money away, that's fine. If it makes you feel better because you are putting the "good stuff" in your bike, that's fine, too. Unless your bike is modified with high comp pistons or the manual says to use higher octane, its not helping any. The HD manual says to use 87 octane in my '98 883, and that's what I use. It runs perfect. It made no difference on higher octane fuel. It runs the same.

I don't know about the fuel injected, but carb 1200's owner manual says 91 octane due to the higher compression ratio. The higher compression, the more chance of predetention with lower octane gas because lower octane gas fires actually fires from the compression, not the spark on higher compression engines which is deadly for them. The compression ratio is lower on the 883 and they can run on standard gas.
