My engine guard just came in!!
I was wondering how difficult this is going to be for me to install. I have forward controls. Will that make a difference?
Mine fit like a glove. I have an 06 XL1200C. No problems with forward controls or steering. The only problem I can think of is if you have big feet. Your left boot will hit the engine guard when you are using the rear brake.

On my 07 1200 custom i just loosened and removed the 2 tops bolts and the bottom was already tapped for the 2 bolts supplied with the engine guard and i just used loctite and torqued the bolts to the specs mentioned on the installation instructions sheet. Loctite is the key.
LOL I just realized my mistake while getting ready for work this morning. Guess it's been way too long since I've ridden. I'm in Michigan.

I installed mine on my '08 and it took about 10 minutes. The "hardest" part was disconnecting the horn....
