2006 1200 Custom. Ride 50% interstate at 80 MPH, 50% backroads and around town. Good week 46 MPG, bad 44 MPG. No windscreen though.

I generally get around 48 with combination riding. With my bike, on the highway the mpg goes down. If I'm on a road trip, I will usually run about 80 - 85mph, and the 883 engine is working pretty hard at that speed.

When I took the BORING 444 mile ride on the Nathez Trace Parkway, at a steady 50 - 55 mph, I got 67 mpg, the entire time. MAN WAS THAT A DULL RIDE!!

Stargazer - almost 70 mpg??? those are some long legs your 883 has...what speeds did you average and what fuel were you burning?
Was cruising at about 60 to 65 over on the peninsula. Running premium, 93 Octane from the local Chevron Station.

I was shocked when I saw the numbers. Actually went back and refigured it twice more.

My 1200C averages right at 50 MPG, and that's with higher performance Screamin' Eagle "E" cams, which have more lift and duration and flow quite a bit more fuel.

Very little city riding (stop and go), and I usually cruise at 65 to 70 MPH.

Under the same conditions my Softail FatBoy averagesright at 48MPG, and my Road King clocks in at around 44 MPG.

Come hell or high water, I always get 130 miles out of my main tank which is 2.8 gallons so that figures out to 46.42 mpg. Always... consistently. And I ride almost daily to and from work about 1/2 and 1/2 freeway and around town, heavy wristed on the freeway... at least 80mph, obey the speed limits in town.

I'm kinda all over the map, but consistently. I get 38-41 in mixed riding...50 or better on highway trips. When I say mixed, that's free-flowing big city interstate-grade roads with three or fourdedicated lanes in one direction with moderate traffic. Sometimes need to twist the wrist to get onto 'em, and pass as quickly as safely possible. Fortunately, I work a shift that avoids most of the heavier rush hour traffic, but still get caught in it sometimes when I'm off (my fault). Some stop and go city...and in rush hour, the interstates are stop and go! I run between 65-75...Trips, it's around 75 and I get over 50 mpg like that.
