Usually don't worry about the mileage cause most of the time I'm doing mixed riding - stop n go, getting on it or whatever feels good at the moment. The one time I did actually check it was aftera day ofmainly open road and rolling pretty steady (most of the time anyway) and I got 57 mpg - was actually kinda surprised it was that good.

Between 50 and 55 mpg. Always on the high side of 50. Of course I don't ride my bike like I stole it.

My ride to/from work is 50-50 highway and sidestreets and it's 50 miles round trip. I fill up every other day and it's usually 1.8 gallons putting me right around 55 MPG. That's with or without my windshield. I usually ditch that around june and bring it back in mid to late sept.

Wow. There's quite a difference in reported mileage here.

Around town (mixed riding, a lot of 2-3 mile hops) I get between 40 and 46, depending on how much vroom-vroom is in there.

On a tank with al highway miles, I can get 55mpg. But I got a windshield this winter and have yet to see how that will change things.

I'd be interested to hear from people on how mpg changes before/after Stage I.

I get around 44 MPG with a windshield, I am sure would be higher without it. Just had Stage 1 completed not sure if numbers will go up or down.

I've done extensive mileage tests on my Softail with the windshield on and off, and the difference was 1 MPG.

But when you think about it, without a windshield the air is hitting your upper torso, arms, head, etc., which is a large surface area.

The surface area of the wind hitting and flowing around a windshield isn't much greater than if it was just hitting your body.

Before the Stage 1 upgrade, I got 70 mpg several times on my daily ride to work and back. But I was also following the owners manual and shifting too soon. After stage 1, my mileage has decreased, but it still averages a little over 60 mpg. I'll take the decreased miles and enjoy the upgrade anyday. I've also been letting it rev more since I learned that Sportsters like to rev.

The last tank (first one after Forcewinder/Exhaust/SE wires/Yost carb kit and tuning of the carb) I have clocked 43 mpg combined city/backroads. That was BP ultimate with 10% corn fuel added thanks to the EPA. I normally run shell V-Power 93 from a neighboring county that still sells "real" gasoline.
Before the mods I was getting about 46-50 combined city hwy. 55-57 straight highway 1-up or 52 highway 2-up.
As a footnote: I tend to twist the throttle a bit more since the mods but that could also just be spring feaver...
