Default Split vision 'vision' problems

My latest ebay purchase just showed up today, a used set of split vision mirrors. It took a few minutes to install them and I took the bike for a little ride at lunch. I can't seem to adjust them (tilt them) high enough to fully see the road behind me in the 'normal' portion of the mirror. I can see the area between my elbow and bicep and not much higher. I prefer them to be set so my shoulder is visible. It appears as though the mirror stems are a bit shorter than the stock stems and I can't get the necessary adjustment from the mirror alone.
I imagine I need to rotate the controls a bit on the bars to gain the adjustment. I'm assuming that I need to loosen the Torx screws that clamp the controls onto the bars, then rotate and retighten. Is it as simple as that?? Anything I need to be careful of?? Thanks in advance for any help...

Yeah, you can just loosen those torx, rotate and retighten.

I have them on my 1200c and can see what you want to. Did you try to rotate the mirror stems? Push them farther away or closer and see if it gives you any improvement. I think that moving them farther away was what worked for me

I have them set pretty far forward, it's not that I can't see behind me. In fact, the convex part of the mirror gives a pretty good view of the entire roadway. The problem is with the 'normal' portion - it seems that theystems are too perpendicular to the road and I have the mirrors angled up as high as they will go but I still can't see my shoulders. I think if I rotate the controls maybe an 1/8" forward, I'll get the adjustment that I need. I'm gonna mess with them tonight when I clean the bike and see what I can come up with. Thanks for your input.

Let us know how the re-adjustment goes. I've been considering a set of these. I am imagining if you are a heavier/wider person you may have to just give up totally on the normal portion of the mirror and just use the convex piece.

Took a while to try and break loose those damn Torx screws (yes, even in plastic those S.O.B.S can be a real bitch to break loose!!). But once I did, and rotated the controls a little bit I could actually see the road behind me. As mentioned in other posts, it might take a while to get used to the seperate panels - kinda like watching 4 tvs at once!! - but I think you can really see a LOT more of the view behind you with this type of mirror. I'll keep y'all posted....
