Just recently purchased my first harley (06 1200C) and it should get here in the next 2 weeks. Im already shopping for power adders and accesories. I think the first thing im going to do is change the exhaust and handlebars. Ill have to wait and ride the bike to see where I want my handle bars to be (drag or apes), but ive been looking at exhaust non stop the past 2 days.
not a big fan of the staggered pipes so i think im going to rule out slip ons and just get a full exhaust system. Ive found a few pipes made by samson that have caught my eye, (samson big guns 3 slasher, rip saw, or street sweeper) anybody running these and have any complaints or issues with samson products?
I also found a set of hooker pipes that i liked, kinda give my bike that custom look. It says they gained 19hp but that was on an 88ci with a K&N filter and jetted carb. so i'm not expecting that much out of the evo.
I've got the rip saws and I love them! They were on there when I got the bike, but I wouldn't take them off for anything. They are very loud though, which I'm sure the neighbors don't like...
I really like the look of the Samson pipes, however when I was doing research on them, I had a few people tell me their finish wasn't the greatest. A few of the guys at the shop I go to said the same thing to me as well but I should say, Im not speaking from experience. I really like the Vance and Hines pipes. One of my favorites that they make are the Big Radius but I am not sure if they still make them for the Sporties. I had read they were limited edition. The other cool pipes they have are the sideshots. Check them out at:
I have the Samson Big Guns II Ripsaws. They are pretty loud . I really like the looks of them better than anything else I've seen on a sporty but they do have some issues I don't care for, such as no back pressure and I have to be careful making right turns in town or leaning too much on a particular sharp curve on a county road I ride on alot because they will drag if i'm not careful. The Big Guns III that you are looking at are advertised as coming outta the factory with baffles in them, which the Big guns II don't have.I would think that would help the back pressure issue.
anybody use or no of anyone using the hookers? I like the styling of those the best, but if its going to hurt my peroformance I'll shop around. So many decisions...........
