well, i finished up my conversion last weekend and i was amazed at the differance it made! its like having a totally new bike. i have a 91 883 deluxe with a stage 1 kit, and it outran all my freinds before. got the first 100 miles on her last sunday and it sucked not being able to open her up yet, but i can already tell she runs STRONG!
i would highly recommend to anyone who is considering this mod to be confident and do it yourself. i did and it is such a great feeling to hear that motor run when you are done.( not to mention the hundreds of harley-bucks i saved.) i went with wiseco reverse dome 9.5 to 1 pistons, and drag specialty jugs. had to replace the jugs because the previous owner did and used 883 jugs that couldn't be bored out. according to my local shop my stock jugs could have been bored. oh well. total cost, less than 600 bucks. and worth every penny.
by the way, on my first ride, i got 60 mpg, as an 883 i got 40. BIG difference!
