everythings great, but the engine dies at speeds above 65, its usually doing about 3300 RPM by then according to my tach, and i hit 6000 in the previous gears, so it cant be bad ignition system right? I'm leaning towards the fuel side, I think its draining the carb of gas before it can refill.
i had a sportbike pass me while i was doing 60 tonight, and i revved it to catch up and once i hit 80 engine died and it jerked me back.
its done this every night for the past week going home on the I-10, doesnt seem to do it during the day either ive noticed, but ive only been up to 75 once this week during the day.
everytime it dies, i have to pull in the clutch before it catches me and pulls me back like hard braking, then put on my signal and make my way to the side of the freeway, then it starts no problem, and i ride on the emergency lane off the nearest exit and take the streets home.
the first day, i assumed i had run into my reserve becuase when I got off the freeway, i was nearly empty, the second day, the tank was low, but i knew i didnt hit my reserve yet, becuase it only took 0.6 gallons to fill it to the top. the third day i thought it was the float adjustment i made to stop the carb from puking gas at stoplights.
still doing this and i cant figure out why
throw me some suggestions and things to check and ill do it this weekend.
Dang Joe, you have the worst luck. Do you ever get a week that your bike isnt acting up?
yes, ive gone as far as a month and a half without problem. But on a 20 year old bike you can't expect it to be perfect all the time. somethings gotta give
