Default cutting out part 2

A few weeks ago I posted a question about my 2002 1200s cutting out. I suspected fuel problems or dirty fuel filters which checked out fine. Since then I have ridden a couple hundred miles without trouble untill today. Today when I was trying to overtake some traffic on the interstate, I was in 3rd gear and pretty sure I hit the rev. limitter. When I gabbed 4th, it didn't stop cutting out. I eventually slowed down and down shifted to 3rd, then second and it still was cutting out. Finally, I pulled in the clutch and hit the off button, killing the motor momentarily. I then hit the start button, listened for the motor to come to life again then let out the clutch and it ran fine the rest of the day. What's with that?

VOES. Make sure the vaccuum lines are all connected and test that switch. I hate that ****er!!!!![:@]

If that's ok...look to your ignition circuit. Inspect and clean your knock down sensor per the SM, check all your grounds, clean out your ignition module connector and inspect the wires for breaks, burns, bends, and bare exposure.

Your problem is definitely electrical. And it's NOT the following, I can at least say that:

Coil - either good or bad...no in between
Plugs - it would be constant if it were
Plug wires - same as plugs
Fuel system - it would be much more frequent and have very different symptoms
Carb - see fuel system

I had the same thing happen on mine after hitting the rev limiter a couple of times. I switched to a Crane ignition coil and Daytona TC88A ignition module and haven't had the problem since. I suspect the real problem was the stock coil going into saturation.

Thanks for the insight. I am getting ready to take a quick 50 mile round trip to meet the wife for lunch. I will flog it at some point and see if it does it again.
