Default Help with forward controls please

I have a 2001 883 with mid controls? I think...... they are the closest ones and I find them very uncomfortable. In a fit of fustration I purchased this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harle...QQcmdZViewItem

turns out it only works if you already have the HD forward controls, I think I only need a few parts to make this work for my application so if any one can tell me what I need that would be great! I am kicking myself for not paying better attention to the listing....I really dont want to return them as there is a 20% restocking fee and I will have to pay shipping.

I would like to make everything work out. any help is welcome......

please don't tell me to use the search button I need part numbers and I cannot narrow down the search enough.....

FYI I am 5'11 so I really need to streach out....

Default RE: Help with forward controls please

Will,
You purchased a kit to extend the forward controls an additional 4" forward. You will need the entire forward control kit with the exception of the brackets. You might want to go to dealer or bike night to sit on a sportster of your vintage with forward controls to see if they are what you want - if so eat the $40 restock bullet and return what you bought and get the forward control kit

like these - under $200

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHROM...spagenameZWDVW

or this one under $100
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/91-03...spagenameZWDVW

note: if you sit on an '04+, the forward controls are 1 to 2" closer to you than yours will be even without the extended brackets you bought.

Good Luck
