Default New Tire Question UPDATE

Had a new front tire put on my bike on Saturday. The old one had some "weather cracking" on the side wall and I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Anyway, got the new tire on, and as I'm leaving the shop I notice a wobble from side to side in the bars. I asked about this and was told that it was due to the fact that the tire was "peaked"???? and that it would smooth out, to be careful with it especially in the rain for the first 50 or so miles.

So, can someone explain this, please and tell me how long I can expect to have this wobble in my front end?

Sounds like a pretty fishey excuse for a bad tire to me. Maybe they figured a female wouldn't know any better. [:@]

I just had new Dunlops put on and it was smooth from the get go. On yours, I wonder if they misaligned or didn't balance them correctly?

I had a new front put on last riding season and the bike rode perfect.

Don’t sound right to me. I think they are hoping you will just go away and not bother them to actually do the job right.

I'd go back there and demand a re-alignment for free. They should automatically align and balance the tire for you. I'd also hang out and watch them- because if they are upset you came back for that you never know if they'd try to slip something else in there.

The only caveat should be not cornering too hard for the first 50 miles or so, because of the soft rubberbumps or little nipplesthat protrude from the new tread.Maybe that's the 'peaks' they were referring to. Other than this, you shouldn't have wobble in the front end. Sounds like bunch of horse **** to me. All new tread I've riden off with is solid - as you would expect from new tires.

That is b.s. It should be balanced and never wobble. Annoying and unsafe. If they do not make a re adjustment, post their name here, and call customer service for the Mfg. of that tire.

Whatever this is its gone today. I rode to the office (which is where I was when I posted the question originally) and coming home there is no wobble of any kind.

Now I'm REALLY confused. Think I'm going to get a second opinion ASAP from the other shop.
