I am building my bobber project. It's a 1995 sporty frame that is being hardtailed with a led sled customs ridgid back end, along with one of their oil tanks and mini battery boxes. I also got a round rear fender from them with some fender braces made out of round stock that's been curved.
My question is......1986 to 2003, are the parts interchangable?
When I look at aftermarket frames, they say 1986 to 2003, but 1 or 2 times, I've seen read somewhere that in the mid 1990's there were some changes.
Do you guys know if there were any changes? I don't want to buy a motor that won't fit, or buy a salvage or donor bike for parts and find out they won't work.
The two you'll want to look at for ease in finding parts and fewer problems are the later models. The 86 can go either way as there are E1986 and L1986 and there are some pretty big differences between the two. The 97 and 2000 models are exactly the same and won't be as confusing.
EDIT: Also...anything from 1994 to 2003 will be pretty much exactly the same where it counts....just a tip.
'86-'90 motor parts are interchangeable.............'91-'03 motor parts are mostley interchangeable ,then there are some parts that will work from '86-'03.........
