Default should I move from Sportster to Electra Glide ?

I have always ridden a Sportster, and like the light weight and quick, nimble handling. Would like to buy an Electra Glide Classic, but am worried it would feel bulky and hard to ride with the extra 200+ lbs, side bags, crash bars, trunk, etc. I need some guidance. Thanks

If you have the funds go for it. I regularly ride the Sportster and a Gold Wing, you'll handle it easy.

Gotta warn you though If you buy E-Glide you'll likely just want to sell the sportster, especially if you spend time on the highway.

Steve is spot on for most folks. But we are entering some reallystrange gas price times and I think that extra 10-14mpg will start becomein more important than ever before and the smaller lighter bikes will be looked at in a different light. But if your just round town and short trip ridein then the Sportster is certianly the best fit. If you like all day rides or several days rides or week rides or month rides then the big Glide IS about the best most fun bike built for that.
havein had both they are both GREAT rides. just different. But I have rode Sportsters from coast to coast a couple times so I know how to set them up for long saddle time and that is important for long distance travel. BUT even with all that, they key to ridein lighter bikes long distances is throw the " I got to ride XXX miles every day OUT THE Window!!" Ride till your alittle tired and stop and take a break then ride some more and a short break and ride some more and a break. This IS one of the best ways to NOT get sore and when ya get sore ridein aint fun no more.
If you do get aGlide you will find it easy to get used to. They are heavier feeling and slower handlin and there just aint no gettin arround that, but that is somethin you learn how to deal with. The Glide is a Cadilac SST the Sportster is a Corvette your call

If you want one, go for it.

I have one of each and love them both.

The glide is very nimble. It may take you a little adjusting, but once you get used to it you'll be fine.

I had mine on the Texas World Speedway track last weekend and it was a blast.

I went Sportster to a Glide and am now back on a Sportster.

The ride to Sturgis was much easier on the glide.

I dropped it ? a lot I guess .

It was to much bike for me.

I've had an ElectraGlide...

Awesome bike... though I did take the bags off and stuff... but still really nice....

I don't know about the new ones... but when you balance the thing out its like riding on air and auto pilot (almost)

I'm not 75... but my body seems to like the idea of going in that direction in the near future...[8D]

.....go for it.If I didn't have kids in college, I'd be riding a big twin, most likely a ST....

but, I love my Sportster, and the more I ride it , the more I like .....

Ideally, it's nice to own one of each........B.

Actually, the EG will surprise you. It handles surprisingly well, better than Softails, I'd say.
