I'm doing more ad ons, and now have thought about bags. Are there any good bags out there that I don't have to relocate my turn signals to install? I've seen the throw over bags which if I've read properly I wouldn't have to relocate anything, but worry about putting something dirctly on my fender...dont' want any paint scratched or dulled. Not to mention, you all helped me put on a sissy bar a couple of months ago, so now I have rigid plates to work around. Any ideas out there?
I went to a craft type store and bought some self adhesive felt, attached it to the fender side of the yolk on my throwovers, and that keeps ya from scratching the paint.
If you don't relocate the turn signals you are restricted on the size of bags you can use or you will have to usemuch more expensive bage that have recessed areas molded infor the turn signals. Relocating the turn signals is fairly simple and inexpensive compared to the cost of higher end bags.
I also have bags just like STEG's, on my 2007 Sportster, and I did not have to relocate turn signals, and I also have rigid sissy-bar sideplates, so that wasn't a problem. They are bolt on bags from HD, called "Sportster Premium Leather Saddlebags" part # 90598-04. As you can see on STEG's bike, they look great. Not cheap, but nice.
