Default Nubee need help with jetting

Hey I just bought my first street bike ever, A 2005 Sportster. But its not loud enough for me and I dont have the money for pipes right now, so I want to remove the baffles but I was told if I do that I need to rejet. I am sure there is a tread on this already but I couldnt find one, any one know what jets and maybe a how to guide? [&:]

IMO, removing baffles completely is not a good idea as in doing so you lose back pressure and reversion. In essence you are creating drag pipes which only improve WOT top end, causing low and mid-range to suffer in performance. If you do remove the baffles and don't open your intake and rejet, chances are you will do no harm to the engine BUT, low and mid-range performance will suffer.

ok, i noticed that you said removed completely, um can you remove only some, and if so does that involve welding them back in. please excuese the nubee questions, I have a quad and dirtbike but this is my first Harley.... I love it but i feel like I am riding a yamaha it is so quite....

Go to denniskirk.com, they have slipons for cheap. As for rejetting go to ebay the whole kit is like $20.00, good instructions.

Generally folks recommend drilling holes, or hole sawing out the center of the baffle... Lots of methods, lots of opinions.
I recommend getting some low cost slip-on's. Hacking up the factory baffles will get you buy until you save up the $200 for slip-ons.
