Default Baffles

My wife is a new owner of a 2010 Sportster 48! Bad azz lookin bike but not but not bad azz sounding. It appears to have the baffles bolted in the pipes but I tried removing the bolt and then tried to remove baffles but they won't budge. Needs some guidance and thanks.

Pull the baffles and it won't rumble as much as bark, the staccato noise that echoes off houses. My recommendation is always keep the originals in case noise ever becomes a legal issue (then stock pipes will get expensive and hard to find), and get some slip on mufflers that will sound a lot better anyway. You'll also lose low end and mid range power with no back pressure; a lot of the aftermarket pipes are designed to give you some back pressure, too.

I believe that the stock baffles are welded in place and must be cut to get them out. There are videos on youtube where they remove them and it required a drill bit that made a 1.5 inch hole or something of that nature.

I agree with Imold save your stock pipes just in case & get some slipons & remove the baffles & install TTI's form DK Customs You'll get better sound & performance & if you don't change you intake you wont need to do anything else but if you change your air cleaner later you can always install Xieds / Vieds or more expensive fuel mgt system
