Default BCT Baffles

Hello everyone. I've been reading the forums for a few months now, but this is (sort of) my first post. (Replied to one a few minutes ago). The forum has been really helpful so far. For my 1st bike, I bought an 01 883C last year that has V&H straightshots on it (baffle-less). That's as much as I can tell that is aftermarket. I replaced the paper AC with a K&N about a month ago, and man what a difference! After searching the forum for a while, I realized I was still missing out on power in the low-mid RPMs and decided to get the BCT Thunder Monster baffles (I still wanted loud). I went for my first long ride with them in today & am sooo glad I spent the $90 on them.

Here's my question: The baffles are at 4" in right now (pre-drilled holes), but the instructions say that 6" is usually optimal. Does installing them 2" farther in make that much of a difference? I'd rather not remove my pipes and drill new holes for an insignificant improvement.

That is the general sweet spot. It would really depend on your pipes and engine set up. Give them a call at BCT and they might have some incite for you. When I called they were very helpful. I love mine. Nothing, I mean nothing sounds better. The performance factor is there as well. Some will scoff but that don't change the results everyone I've heard talking about the ones they've installed.
