Has anyone tried to raise their nightster rear shocks? I was wondering if it ruins the look or makes the kick in the *** go away when you hit potholes.......
RE: Has anyone raised their Nightster rear shocks?
Not sure what you mean, like getting longer than the stock 11" shocks? There is one guy on this forum (I think) who put 13" shocks on his, maybe he will chime in. I've got 11.5" Progressives, can't tell any difference in the height, but the ride is a little softer.
RE: Has anyone raised their Nightster rear shocks?
I too am thinking to put a progressive 12, 12.5 or 13 rear shock on my nightster, any one has any pics of such setup? Would like to know if it is feasible to do so without messing up the look.
RE: Has anyone raised their Nightster rear shocks?
Well the sales guy said there were 5 setting on the rear shocks. It comes set #2 1 being the lowest. Is what i've been told anyway, but thanks for the tip. I'll look into those. I live in New England where the roads are all torn up!!!
RE: Has anyone raised their Nightster rear shocks?
I am about 210 in riding gear and was getting beaten on the my Nightster, I bumped up the springs to the 3rd setting and it is so much better, probably not Progressive better, but it doesn't hurt my back as bad to hit the New England pot holes (Maine).
RE: Has anyone raised their Nightster rear shocks?
I can tell you on my 06 1200-C {185 lbs} I went from stock 11 3/4" to Progressive 412 12 1/2" S.D. And they did little to make it ride smoother, it still takes the sharp or pothole hits hard. I may have been over expecting from them. I do know I got very little improvement as far as a smooth ride.
But on the good side,I think the handling is better, and it don't bottom out like the stock ones did. So on that part I did get some improvement...
GP.
RE: Has anyone raised their Nightster rear shocks?
I'm also trying to figure out weather I can get away with 11.5's or have to go with 12's. My biggest peeve is that It drags on both sides when I'm hard cornering at speed.
RE: Has anyone raised their Nightster rear shocks?
I've got the same question. My last bike was a 600cc Honda sportbike and I'm grinding away my pegs - and worse - with the Nightster. I like the N a lot but it could use more "Sport" in its "Sportster". I was wondering if going up to 12" or even 13" shocks would give me a noticeable increase in ground clearance and lean angle...
