Has anyone else mad the mistake of pulling away from a stop in second gear?
It only took a few feet to figure out what I'd done and kick it down to first.
But it certainly did make a strange racket! No, it didn't knock or ping. Kinda sounded like a cross between a dragging chain and a can full of marbles being shaken. The bike has 400 miles on it and seems fine but what the hell was that noise? The primary chain? Can't believe I did that! Been riding for 25 years. Must be early alzheimers!
Hope all of you had a great holiday.
I did it just the other day and I don't know if because 883's are supposedly geared lower or what but while it dragged a little it didn't have too much of a problem taking off anyway.
i have done it a few times. Always feel like a retard when i do. My bike will take off in second but its sluggish. I think the rattle is the primary chain protesting.
Done it 3 or 4 times. It will make it, but know what it is right away and kinda boggish. fell pretty stupid, but not as much as when I am taking off fast and hit between gears going from 1st to 2nd. Really revs up.
