New oil pump - fitting adjustment?
I guess I have never posted here. I have a 1988 sportster that I am rebuilding. I got to ride it once after buying 2 years ago. On that ride the crank bearing blew up.
Its taken me a while to buy all the parts and find everything to put it back together.
I am looking at my new oil pump, and according to the sevice manual, I should put teflon tape on the fittings if I am replacing them. The oil pump had two fittings in it and I put two others in using teflon. The two fittings that were on the pump do not look like they were not put in with any kind of sealant.
Should I take them out and wrap them up?
Here a pic of the bike when it was still in one piece.
Its in boxes now, but I took this pic so I would know what it was suppose to look like when I put it back together!
