Default Lower than 11" shocks?

I just put 11" progressives in the rear and 2" lowering springs on the front of my wifes 883r, we'd like another inch lower in the back. Is this ok if I tighten up the preload a little bit and use a 1" drop bracket? Also were do you get a shorty kick stand I think I"m gonna try and bend the one on there a little bit w/ some heat. Any advice/ Thanks

Well, you can put a 1 inch drop bracket on the rear axle but fender may rub the tire, kick stand and exhaust may also scrape the ground. If you don't worry, why not?
By the way, nice nighttrain.

Thanks for the comp. Had to put her (nighttrain) on the back burner while I pimp the wifes bike out. Thats my concern is the rub but tightening the preload should solve that right?

For a lower stand, just throw a Sporty Low/Hugger stand on, as that's what I had to do when I threw on the 10" shocks. If you raise the pre-load, you "might" be able to get by with the lowering mounts, so the shock doesn't try to bottom out. Are you trying to lower the bike for her height/flat footing, or strictly for the looks of getting that fender down around the tire? I think someone else used the 11" shocks & the lowering brackets....I think the bike was silver....Just can't remember their name....[&:] If you're lowering it for her height, have you tried a different seat with a narrower front profile so it's not spreading her footing out?

I have 11" shocks with the 1" lowering kit posted above and have absolutely no problem with the tire rubbing the fender. I weight 220lbs and have the preload set to the 2nd setting. I still use the stock kickstand with no problem

What year is the sporty 883? that is going to depend the nightster has a diff rear fender well that is why you can really drop it in there without issues... if your 883 has a full rear fender she will run into issues with rubbing... mostly on the wire rails running under the fender... yoiu may have to re route the wires... instead of that have you looked into shaving the seat? that will at times drop you 1 to 2 in... and yes i would also either heat and bend the stand just a bit or cut and re weld the foot on... how about a picture? a trick i used in the past was slap a pair of suzuki savage shocks on the bike... they are 10in from eye to eye and pretty cheap to find... they are also a bit beefyier than the stock shock and will give it a cooler look... just an idea for you

It's an 03'&nbsp\\; I've ordered a bare bones solo seat w/ the biker gel and forward controls.&nbsp\\; We just want it lower because it looks so tall next to my night train.&nbsp\\; The progressive 412 shocks ride like a&nbsp\\;caddy so a little lower shouldn't hurt right? I'm also looking for a used rear fender to cut apart.&nbsp\\; For under 20 bucks I think I'll try it.
