Wife is getting ready to make the jump from the lil' rebel to a sportster, I don't know a thing about them cept what Ive heard,( older ones not as smooth as newer) rubber mounted what year? \\; \\; Looking for an 05 06 -7. I think they're rubber mounted. Anyhow, she won't ride very long starting out. \\; Also, she has been riding a few years, and has the msc done, thanks for any info.
the efi 07 is 60 lbs heavier than the 06 carbed model. I have an 07, my budy has an 06. EFI bike fires up and is ready to put into gear and ride off. 06 bike has to warm up 3 minutes before it goes into gear and is sluggish for the first couple/ 3-5 miles.
If she wants to get up and go, EFI for sure, I love my '07 that I can start it and ride off immediately.
Unless she wants to do pipes and air cleaner, then you have to remap. Carb is easier if you want to play with it, if you just want to ride, I can't recommend the EFI enough.
Wife got a 883L at the dealer for a good price. \\; Put a few pieces on it to make it hers. \\; The new 2009 model year should be out soon so you may be able to get a good deal on a 2008. The price difference between the 07 and 08 was $200, so we went with the new bike. The 883 are a bit cheaper and have room to grow (1200 upgrade) if you decide to do so at a later time.

\\; Ditto that. \\; If you want simple buy '07 on up, but you will pay for the Stage 1 upgrades with mapping, etc. \\; Carb models '04 to '06 are easily upgraded to Stage 1...pipes, air cleaner, and jets. \\; Nice to pick up a used, late model, \\;low mileage 1200 with all of this done. \\; Plenty out there with goodies already paid for.
