I was doing some training in downtown NYC this morning so I rode the Nightster into NYC for the first time. Man, was that fun!
Blasting down I95, through the Bronx and down the FDR along the East River, what a trip! [sm=icon_rock.gif]
Adding to the shenanigans is that famously, unforgiving Nightster suspension. For those of you that are not familiar with roads of NYC and the boros - the poor quality of some sections is legendary.
I hit a few sections where I had to literally post up a good 8 inches off the seat [sm=massbounce.gif] or be dealt a blow similar to a heavyweight punch to the gut.
Score 1 for mid controls! They make posting up a breeze.
Call me a fool but I loved every minute of it. Between, the crazy cars & taxis that you have to watch like a hawk, and the road course challenge, it was like riding a roller coaster at Six Flags. Say what you want about Sportsters & Nightsters, but they ain't nothing if not GOOD TIMES!!!
Man I guess I will have to do that one day. My dad told me also it is a blast to ride in NYC. I don't think I would like the road surfaces very much though. NYC roads suck. My truck built for off road gives the best ride in the city.
\\;I have some friends on long island. I'm gonna be making the trip up on the bike soon. I won't make it in town, but the belt parkway and the southern state parkway should be a fun ride!

People drive INSANELY (Stupid) on the Southern State Pkwy - prepare for Defensive Combat riding!
A ride along the beach on the Robert Moses Causeway might be a nice detour on the way out to visit your friends.

I've done the southern state a few times in my mustang(that I just sold) It very much related to the roller coaster ride. I still think it would be fun on a bike, ya just have to hit it at the right time.
