\\; \\; \\; \\; I ride \\;a '08 sportster with a new wide vintage seat, it solved my butt soreness problems, but now my mid back and up bothers me on longer rides.. Would this be that I am not used to the new seat or \\;could it \\;be the \\;handlebars??
Put wide glide bars on it and you will feel much better. The stock bars cause you to lean forward using your lower back muscles to support yourself. You need bars that put you in a more upright position.

Yeah wide glide bars is what I have. Their are many others out there. I am 5'9" and the wide glide bars fit me perfectly. And I was able to pick them up cheap from a local dealer as they were take-offs from a new bike that the owner had different bars put on. Depending on your height and comfort you may want a different size.
\\; \\; \\; \\; Okay,, I'll check into it,, I'm 6'0' so maybe I can talk to a dealer and see what they recommend in that type of bar.. I guess they could put it on and save me the hassle of dealing with it also...
I find myself most comfortable with my hands a couple inches lower than my shoulders. Arms straight with a slight bend in my elbows to absorb bumps and maneuver without shifting my body.

I take it you are talking about stock OEM Wide Glide bars and not H-D aftermarket? Which year(s)?
The one's I have came off an 07. But the part # on em is the same as listed in the current parts catalog. I am at work now, but can check tomorrow. But it appears the wide glide bars have the same part # going back several years.
Another issue is location of foot controls. If you have forwards, back pain will be exacerbated because your legs are not supporting your upper body at all. A "standard" riding position should have your feet under your hips. But I ride with forwards and just try to keep my core strength up at the gym. It helps me.
