Just installled the short shots on an 08 Nightster, no baffles. \\; Everything is cool excet for some serious backingfiring on deceleration, is it damaging the engine, whats really going on? \\; Whats the cure? \\; Thanks everyone!!!!!
Scott
yup, i get the popping too on decel. I have the SE Stage 1 AC, remap from the dealer, and the shortshots with quiet baffles. I get a little bit of it. The dealer told me, as well as alot of folks on this here forum, that because of the shortness of the pipes, you're going to get some no matter what. I don't think its damaging the bike. Its the nature of the beast.
need more info... fuel pack? power commander? race tuner? what air cleaner? if you did pipes alone with no baffles you will probably need to free up some more air with a high flow air cleaner and some kind of fuel management..
my shortshots used to backfire like hell even with the quiet baffles on, on decel sometimes was like a proper gunshot, its all gone after installing the fuelpak
taggiascoz, What settings are you using on the fuelpak I have short shots, stage 1 and fuelpak and get some popping but not as much as I did before I changed the setting that the dealer installed.
I get very little decel popping since I installed the quiet baffles. Most of it goes away after the bike warms up. The quiet baffles soften the harsh tone with very little reduction in the sound volume. It's a good balance for me.
