man i have had great luck with dupi color high heat engine paint... they even have a self etching primer... just an idea... some people say that it gets to hot and will stop the motor from cooling... i have done 3 bikes with this (old honda CB750) and had them in missouri heat with out any issues... but never done it to a Harley to be honest... i usually just tear down and powder coat... that is not saying that it will not work... hell i would rattle it

I would like to see how it looks once you get them on. Thinking about doing it to mine as well. I think your pretty much set, unless you want to pull out the motor and do the jugs as well...

I have the cam cover, rocker box cover, primary, sprocket, derby, and inspection covers in wrinkle black.

I am probably going to do the tappet block cover which you can buy in chrome and get coated and then there is a cover for the other side. Then you can always do the pushrod tubes too.

I went two tone with the rocker boxes. I left the polished lower to go with the pushrod tubes. I kind of like the way it looks with the forks on my Nightster but to each his own.

If you are completely blacking it out you will definitely want to do the pushrod tubes. I didn't want to have to pull the head to make sure the gaskets were in right or knock out the rocker arms to replace the lower rocker boxes.

i painted my entire engine with high heat alluminum paint and its holding up amazingly well, it bakes on and doesnt flake off at all.

take a look

you can see my primary cover and the cylinders that are painted instead of the usual chrome. the same will work with flat black high temp spraypaint as well, and it helps cooling better than silver.

edit, the scuff on the clutch cover is becuase i left that cover unpainted and that is the oxidised alluminum, right now its painted and baked and looks like the rest of the primary

If you don't want to have them powder coated yourself, you can get a lot of it on e-bay. Here are some things I've found. Maybe not what you're looking for, but might help someone else.

I'll try to get some pics over the weekend. I'm going to try to clean the bike up after work and take some pics before I go out for a ride tomorrow. Its been collecting dust in the garage while I've been mocking up a new set of handlebars.
