Default Engine light?

Just wondering if anyone can give me a lil help.
my 07 1200xl sportster is having a litlle trouble with my engine light. It comes on when i'm riding but everything seems to be running fine. I just had it serviced at 5k. and now i am noticing the light will go on and off periodically. Does anyone familiar with this problem, or should i take it to the dealership where the problem originated? I just don't feel like shelling out the cash back at HD.
thanks.

Ignore a sound or the light and you will end up paying for repairs when the problem gets bigger after the warranty ends.

Have you tried reading the Sticky post at the top of this section on reading diagnostic codes?

That idea works, assuming your not interested in learning anything about your bike. I thought that was why most people come here.

+1 on taking it to dealer. You have a warranty, make them honor it.

It doesn't hurt to read the codes and determine if it is a problem that you may or may not be able to address yourself, w/o the aid of the dealer. If it is something the dealer needs to address, at least you will know what it is.

The sticky link only covers 04-05 codes. Are they the same for 07-08?
