The check enigine light has been coming on and off on my o7 ultra with 700 miles on it. It idles between 800-1200. Up and down when the light is on. Is it OK to ride it or should I just get it to the dealer? Thanks
Get it to the dealer asap. if the light is on and it is not running properly you could damage the engine, if it is running lean enough it doesn't take long to cause damage.
Any check engine light on the bike is warranty work if new. If the light goes out then the problem isn't there any more however they can scan the ECM and see what it is that is causing the problem. I wouldn't run to the dealer but I'd make an appointment and see whats up.
Get it back ASAP! It's under warranty, they have to fix it and you don't want to risk unseen damage that will come back to haunt after warranty is done.
I'll tell you how the stealers can try and F*#@ you. My bike went down from a hi-speed blowout, not at speed but at low speed because tire came off rim and caused bike to lowsideon left. Only cosmetic damage, scratches, scrapes; everything was replaced new. About a year later, my check engine light did like yours, intermittant on/off so I took it in to be fixed (under warranty). The stealer knew my bike had been wrecked because I ordered the $4000 worth of replacement parts from them. My prob was a bad sensor but they 'tried' to charge me $20 for the wire plug in for the sensor, claiming it had been damaged by the wreck! BULLSH!T! Nothing and I do mean NOTHING on the bike was damaged other than minor scrapes on fairing, saddle bag, trunk, muffs, etc. If the bike had went down hard enough to F-up a wire plug in, there would have been a whole lot more things damaged internally....the sonsabeaches........
