Default Highway Peg Installation Question

Does anyone have this setup on their 2008 Sportster with mid controls?

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

I have looked in the H.D. catalog and also on the web site. I cannot tell how these are mounted. This is what I would like to know before having my dealer order them. I do understand that the ones shown here are not for the 2008. The ones for the 2008 is P.N. 49053-04

I am hoping for a step by step installation procedure. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, John

From what I have heard, they bolt onto the motor mounts. If difficult installation is the only thing keeping you from grabbing a pair, I'd go ahead and buy them.

Accessories from HD are extremely easy to install and they come with very good instructions. Most items I've installed have very clear directions and pictures.

When the item in question is a multi-fit, it can get a little confusing as you try to follow what applies to your bike only (hint: use a highlighter to mark the parts that apply to you)

I have them. They don't bolt into the motor mounts, they go where the forwards would normally bolt up. Very simple to install. I can't imagine riding without them now, I love'em

jblank37,

I have them on my '08 sportster, I pick them up on e-bay for $125.00 delivered with pegs. They went on in about 10 minutes time. They mount on the foward control front mounts. I love them and my son wants them for his 1200L. I will only give them up when I get a set of foward controls.

I have them on my 07 XL-50.
Purchased used on Ebay, came without instructions and still only took ten minutes to install.
I love them.

Thanks for the correction. Where do the FWD controls normally bolt? Pipe clamp to the frame or is there a couple predrilled holes there?

I bought mine on ebay as well. LOVE them. Had them powder coated and just got them back. The manufacturer is V-Twin manufacturing part #27-1728. I did some research to find instructions and found them. I tried to send the actual PDF to you but the file but it was too big. So...here's the link to it. Easy install but I recommend some loctite. Cheers!

i have them on my old nighster and they are basically having forward controls. very easy to install and they should come with instructions. they are adjustable also, so you can play with the legnth. the hardest part for me was installing the locking clip the right way. i can't imagine not having them on long rides
