Default resurrecting an 883

hey all.my neighbor's close friend died on the 4th of July this year from getting ran over from the rear at a stop light by a drunk driver punkassbitch and i am helping him get the bike on the road.

i am just lookin' for a round about estimate as to what we are looking to spend to get it back on the road.it is a 1997 883 and needs the following parts:
1)rear wheel(preferably mag type)
2)fender
3)tail light and turns and license plate bracket
4)shocks
5)struts
6)swing arm
7)caliper mount

any help and advise is greatly appreciated.

thanks

edit:any part (1200 or 883) from '86 through '03 will work,won't they?

and yes,8)service manual

OMG...that SUUUUUCKS
I'm ALWAYS looking in my Mirrors at lights as cars approach from the rear. I have always been paranoid about getting slammed that way. I even make sure I shift into 1st if there is a car coming up behind me....just in case I need to make an emergency launch.

I'd be worried about the frame still being straight.

You forgot the most important thing, a service manual, it will come in very handy during the rebuild. Sorry about your friend and I hope they put that waist of space drunk under the jail.

By shopping around and doing the work yourself, I'm guessing anywhere from $500 to $1000. then again, I am a lousy guesser.

more than 800 for sure, but i can easily see you buying stock take off shocks and fenders and wheels on ebay

the swingarm might be harder to come by but its possible to find a used one.

Me too. I always have an escape route planned with that scenario in mind. Whether it be turn right, pull into a parking lot, blow a red light, whatever, I always make sure I watch my mirrors as well as whats going on in front of me and give myself enough room to execute that plan.

Uhhhhhhh, but his is a '97. I know most of the basic info will be the same, but it wouldn't be exact. Frames, some torques specs, & other info in the '05 manual would be different/incorrect.
