I have a 1998 Sportster 1200 Custom, and after several visits to the dealer they have still not fixed my bike, so i guess ill save my money and attempt to track tis down and fix it myself sincne the dealer here sucks..
can anyone give me some pointers, the nbike runs fine until it warms up say after 15 20 miles or so, then the bike DIES... it will not restart, until the bike cools down. But then it fires right up, a Honda i have had a similar problem but the regulator/rectifier was going bad, and those kill the battery so im stumped!
Son's 99 Sporty was doing the same thing, would shut down when warmed up. Engine would turn over but not fire. We replaced coil and problem went away....just a suggestion and not that expensive. Good luck
three things usually make a sporty die first culprit is the coil, if not that ignition module, and sometimes the ignition switch is known to leave you behind, although the switch normally doesnt bite the dust just when it gets warm. good luck let us know what you find out
