Tweakin was the owner of the bike displayed below. Hey Tweakin this was one of my top 3 Nightster pics from everything else that was available out on the net. Back in the day before you converted to ape hangers. By looking at my Olive Nightster you can tell that you were a major influence. Thanks Man!

The apes were a BIG comfort improvement for me. They allowed me to sit more upright and not have to lean over the entire time I was riding.
Apes = comfort
Drags = looks (liked the look better)

I had the original one with the sportster signature visor removed. Having the original air cleaner and headlight removed keeps people guessing what the hell it is. The new one I bought of Ebay for $95. You can also find it in JPCycles.com I listed the part number in my album somewhere.
