Some time ago i blew a baffle out, i have successfully removed the other had it dyno and running extremely rich. i do not have the knowledge do rejet my self so im letting a local performace place here in town do this. I called earlier said they finnally have gotten the jet right but must fix the pilot jet. he also said its running about 75 hp. two questions will the back pressure hurt anything while running without baffles "i dont have the $ right now to buy new ones" also will baffles help increase horsepower?
05 1200c when i bought this bike the past owner knew even less than i do about the bike. he got out of the navy first thing he bought was this bike "said he had it bored out etc.. the guys at performance said it had a larger carb etc.. on it
A v twin needs back pressure to run right, in all honesty they all should have a 2-1 to run right... yes you will get more power with the baffels in becuse it will offer you add back pressure... man in all honesty with as $$$ as a dyno is it would be much cheaper to just rejet the bike
well just to dyno is just $50. they are rejetting now without any baffles being a carb there charging me a pretty penny called earlier said he had to take the carb off 7times just for the jet. then he said its running fine on the dyno in higher speeds but laggs getting there. he said it the pilot and he was starting on it this afternoon. he will prb charge me $ 300 for everything. jets dyno laber etc..
The price sounds pretty typical but there is no need to take the carb off to change the jets. I've changed mine several times, just remove the A/C and drop the float bowl.

+1
When I read that post I was thinking "I sure hope the tech don't really have to remove the carb to change a jet."
FYI, re-jetting is a 10 minute job... tops. It's the testing and re-jetting again and again to get it right that is time consuming. A decent tech should have looked at the bike, carb, exhaust, etc and had a pretty good idea where to start. 7 jet changes seems a little much unless it's doing something funny on the A/F meter.
im not sure im really new at this trying to learn! but i know looking at the original dyno sheets im extremely rich i mean off the chart. im getting my scoot back tommorrow and will attach the sheet if you all can help me with this! i will have no baffles plan on getting some this spring hopefully. money is still tight in the furniture world
How do you go about changing the jets yourself? Do you buy a kit that comes with all different sizes?
There are several kits that come with an assortment of main and pilot jets.
Just be aware that if you buy a dynojet kit it only comes with mains and they are not the same as the keihin mains. In other words, a Dynojet 160 is about the same as a keihin 190.
The other option is to just buy individual jets. They run about $3 from aftermarket vendors or $6 from the stealer.
