Any bike that has a computer (06 and newer?) should be on a tender or you will find a dead battery in the spring... Dead batteries will freeze... then will need replaced.

What is different in the '06 and newer ECM and the older ones?

Well, pre-'06 don't have ECM's.
As FastHoss stated, dealers don't do anything special.....I just got a mailer from the local dealer, and it has two different prices listed, (a price for just storage & then a *'d price which includes tender or oil & filter change).
Oh, and yeah, just use the Sta-bil stuff, as you've already got that. I usually put whatever stabilizer I have on hand in the gas.

Why don't you people fill out your profile?? It depends on where you live as to what you have to do in the winter. If you can get the bike out a few times and ride it during the winter you don't have to do anything, if you are going to have to let it sit for 5 months and not get it out then fill the tank and put Sea Foam in it. I have tried using Sta Bil over the years and it really causes more problems than it cures!!
I've used Sta-Bil for years to store gas for as long as 2 years. It's always worked just fine for the intended purpose. If you need a stabilizer and fuel system cleaner, then Seafoam is the way to go.
