fixed my intake problem
it would be a stage 2.5 ish, it has polished and ported intake and exhuast ports, different cams, not sure on the exact kind. higher compression, better springs, and upgrades in the carb itself like re jet, lighter slide spring, different style brass fuel inlet.
when i got the thing it had a crapload of power, i thought it was normal, rode a stock 883 and i realized mine really did have a lot of work done to it.
well i didnt like running without a filter so i threw a stock style filter inside and it ran a little slower and the first thing i noticed was a higher idle, and my plugs fouled more often. bad idea
i took the whole assembly off today and braced the carb against the intake manifold and motormounts but i hid it, its on solid though. and i just folded up some mesh strainer for soup and drilled 3 holes in it and mounted it up to the intake and took it for a ride.
better throttle response, better idle, more power, and the best thing of all the engine doesnt cut out above 4k rpm in top gear on the freeway. i used to max out at 75 mph and it would cut out, i guess it wasnt getting enough air.
either way here is the pics, im going to replace this with a cleaner setup, most likely a small K&N filter, this is temporary. i love how it cleans up the side of the engine and i like the chrome pushrods against the black fins.
you can also see the step i took to fix the oil blow by problem, my breather is different than the new models, it doesnt go through the head its a hose that comes up from the bottom but it still did the same thing. found this mini spectre breather filter at autozone and it fixed it.
